New Sports Term

When quarterback Tony Romo mismanaged the snap for the game-winning field goal attempt (thus losing the game for the Cowboys), the commentator said, "Romo bengaled the ball."

Ouch....

Doncha hate how these infamous blunders live on so long after the gut-wrenching moment they originally occurred?

I figure that the next time a pitcher sails a ball into foul territory on a routine grounder, he'll be said to have "Tigered" or "Verlandered" it... :o(

My heartache as a Cowboy fan is continuing, and I don't see it ending anytime soon. Bengaled wasn't necessarily the right term (apologies are definitely owed to Cincy); I think we could have said "Cowboyed" that and it would have applied the same sense of frustration. I don't know what made my stomach turn more -- the botched hold or the fact that Romo was so agonizingly close to getting that first down....

Could have been worse .. could have said:

"Chief Romo bengaled the ball"

... glad the season of Chief torture is finally over :(
