Live Blogging: Game One Second Half

Here we go!

4:52 Saints have it. Bears did nuttin'.

4:56 Suh-weet!!! Bush baby. There's our TD and the roll is on!

5:06 Drew Brees is throwing well.

FG: No good.

5:15 Saints get another chance but start at own 5. This could be good if they use up a lot of time on a substantial chain moving drive that culminates in a TD.

5:20 Safety. Four point game. We need another 3 and out.

Got it.

5:31 Gotta stop those Bears.

5:33 Touchdown Bears.... Oh no.

There goes the game? I think so. What do you think?

Current Score: Bears: 32 Saints: 14

Julie, how's your chippage holding up?

Chippage taking back seat to beer. :)

Yes, three and out. That's what we need and may get. 3rd and 13!

We've got snow falling here all day. Snow and football, it's a beautiful thing.

I am on the blue tortilla chips and salsa right now.

Saving the potato chips and dip for the Pats.

Bought tums for later tonight ;-).

Back to the TV!

Let me just say right now, if it is the Colts and the Bears in the superbowl then I refuse to watch. *pouts*

Oh my! I didn't think of that horror for you!

Well, consolation would be that I think Manning can beat the Bears.

Ampersand said...

oh noooo, my horror is that the bears can't beat peyton.

i'm the original peyton-hater, remember?!?

I guess I hoped you hated Rex more. :P

The Bears were impressive. Clearly, beyond all debate, the best team in the NFC this year. They proved themselves worthy of going to the Big Game.

I expected them to win, but not so convincingly. They performed at a level sufficient to give themselves some credibility heading into a showdown with the AFC winner, who I think should be favored to win, whichever team it turns out to be.

I don't really get what's behind the dislike of the Bears (or the Colts, for that matter.) I guess I'm more dispassionate about this stuff? I like Chicago and I have a number of friends who are strongly pulling for them, which tipped them in my book over the sentimental favoring of the Saints (who as I said earlier, would have made a great story and a memorable Super Bowl contestant. I think they have some good years ahead of them, fwiw.)

There's a lot to like about this Bears team if you just give 'em a chance. Lovie Smith is a good guy. They aren't laden with superstars, ego trippers or head cases. They are old school NFL in the best sense of the word (George Halas' daughter accepting the trophy with his name!?! That's classic!)

C'mon, give Da Bears da luv dey deserve! ;o)

Dave you are right of course. I had a hunc this would be my pick that failed. But I really wanted the Cindrella story.

Bears played great. Gotta give 'em their props!
