And Jane rolls over in her grave

For BBC/A&E Pride and Prejudice fans, we can all say: take that Keira.

Hmmm...that's kind of random! What's the rivalry about? I've seen both versions (just bits of, really) and thought they were both fine. Hafta say tho, I'd be tempted to side with Keira, if pushed to choose one or the other, for obvious reasons...

Lots of my friends are huge BBC version fans and we've been devotees for years. Many wouldn't even see the movie. I think lots of men prefer Keira, but the thing of it is, Jennifer Ehle defined the role. So it was funny to me to see her in this Jane Austen smile emitting a cheeky curse on Keira. :)

Did your daughter make the icon? I see "johannah" in the url...

She didn't make it, but she took it off an avatar she liked and hosted it in photobucket. :)

Well let me also acknowledge that when it comes to literate, sophisticated and "authentic" adaptations of beloved works of literature, I accord the BBC an almost infinitely greater degree of trust to do it right than I do the Hollywood studio system and its affiliates.

My preference for Keira is, as you alluded, established on more "base" considerations. ;o)

Hee hee hee!

(Despite my best intentions to hate the remake, as I LOVED the BBC version...I have to say that Matthew Macfadyen totally won me over by the end of the movie!)
