Taking interpretation to task

Today's UPI column deals with the task of interpretation, whether looking at this week's movies or ancient texts.

I like the way you defined hermeneutics as an art form. So many religious people inflexibly see interpretation as a science and get so uppity when you disagree with them.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to have a conversation with a writer like the Apostle Paul about what he really meant when he penned texts that do not seem to be clear?

Julie, I loved your article today! It is related to a lot of what I wrote for my thesis, and I think I'll have to dig into the author you cited some more.
Thanks!
