Power out in Cincinnati

Over one million without power now in Cinci, due to the ravages of Ike. Findlay Market (right across the street from my church downtown!) caught fire and several of the buildings adjacent as well. Hope my church is okay. :(

We are all congregating at Panera in the great Y2K diaspora, 8 years late. Wi-fi and hot coffee have drawn every small business owner and "out of school" teen to the electricity-providing bagel place.

We may be without electricity for a week. It's all McCain's fault, by the way. And Bush's. You know if Palin is such an energy expert, where is she? Hmm? Just sayin'.

Anyway, one more reason to vote Obama, obviously.

See you soon, I hope!

Wondered where you were. Sorry to hear about Cinci...my folks are without power but they are on the Texas coast. I have been focused on the news coverage in the SOuth, didn't realize Ike was causing that much damage up north. GEEZ

I am not getting the connection of McCain and the hurricane...I think you must be jesting, my friend.
Have you seen the Palin/Clinton parody? Loved it. ;-)

Take care!!

Susan

Agree with Susan re: the Palin/Clinton parody on SNL...very funny if you need a laugh to brighten your day which it sounds like you do.

Regarding power outages...I feel your pain. Two summers ago after a powerful storm we were without power for 3 days. The first day the kids thought it was kinda novel with the candles and flashlights and all...the second day the novelty had not quite worn off (they said it was like camping)...by the third day all novelty was gone and there was nothing left behind except crankiness...

Hope you get power restored before you get to that stage.

Sorry to hear your power is down, Julie. Ours was out for about five hours. But, somehow it came back on about 7:30 or 8:00 last night.

Let me know if we can do anything for you guys.

In Jan 2002 we had an ice storm and were without power for 5 days.. hardest on th dogs as we stayed with friends.

Hang in there Julie and don't drink too much coffee.. I like Panera's dark and vibrant (?) blend and would probably overdose if I stayed too long.

Hope the power comes back on soon; I know from recent personal experience that it's no fun at all, particularly with two small children. The last time we had that problem, I demonstrated my horrible lack of survival skills and took the family to the closest hotel!!

Susan, yes. Jest. :)

Thanks all for the well wishes. We're back and rolling.
