Heath Ledger dies in his apartment

I'm in shock. Anyone who knows how much I loved Brokeback Mountain will know that this tragedy feels personal to me and his thousands of fans.

Here's an article with details.

I can't write anything worth posting because I'm so heart broken. We'll miss you Heath.

Update: TMZ.com reports that Heath had pneumonia at the tie of his death, that there is not yet evidence of suicide and that his family heard from the police first that the death was "accidental." I hope so.

These details help.

It's such a terrible loss. Words are not there for me to describe what art will not get created and what life will not get lived.

Look at the gift he left to the universe with Brokeback Mountain. So many people have seen, and found, themselves in that movie.

Incredible gift.

I just came here to see if you had heard. I am in shock too. He always seemed so together, alive, sigh...words fail.

I just heard and gasped. poor Matilda. I hope it wasn't suicide, though the report I heard made it sound as much. Soooo tragic.

Julie, you were the first person I thought of when I heard this driving home after work. A sad and discouraging loss. I watched him in "The Brothers Grimm" just the other day - not one of his most popular movies, but I was impressed with his acting, even before this terrible news hit us all today. It's very difficult to understand circumstances like this... even with all the unanswered questions, death at his age and with his talents just doesn't make sense.

I'm not familiar with all his work, but what I saw I thought was excellent. A very talented young man and a great loss.
