Of course, I haven't read any Anne Lamott but I am 2/3 through Eat, Pray, Love. I picked it up the last time I was at the library and it must have been because of you because I saw it sitting there and said to myself, "Somebody I know online said this book is good... I should pick it up." Anyway, I am enjoying it so far and yes, it's the book that we all wish we had the opportunity to write. But, really, do mothers of five get the opportunity to leave the country and their family for a year to explore other cultures? Hmmm... let me think... no, not usually. I loved seeing Italy through her eyes, no I mean, stomach! And, India was interesting, too, though I know if I went to India I'd be too tempted to see more of the country and eat more of their food rather than stay in an ashram the entire time. I just started the Bali section so I have no idea where she is taking me right now...Dalissa McEwen Reederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05424482684428232565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9684236.post-51063983141334754492008-04-29T09:47:00.000-04:002008-04-29T09:47:00.000-04:00Dalissa, it does make sense. Ok, I'm just kidding but your journey always gives me new things to think about and consider. I think I've become more comfortable with who I am in part due to who you are. Does that make sense?Dalissa McEwen Reederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05424482684428232565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9684236.post-25926790623573201902008-04-27T13:07:00.000-04:002008-04-27T13:07:00.000-04:00Dali, I hope not much else!! I'm disappointed to hear that she was such a "mic hog" over the course of the evening; she's due to be on the Colbert Report this coming Tuesday evening and I'm wondering if she'll let Stephen say anything.

I guess the thing that caught me most off-guard when listening to some of her interviews and reading some of what she has written about the war in Iraq. I've heard a lot of friends and priests discuss opposition to it, but I guess it was the first time that I had heard a Christian be so "candid" (for lack of a better word) about it and the leadership of the president.

Thanks for sharing!NoVA Dadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16661990626635939447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9684236.post-20118008420384977892008-04-25T01:04:00.000-04:002008-04-25T01:04:00.000-04:00Julie,I enjoyed this post so much. Let's just say I would probably agree with you if I was there last night based on several similar thoughts I've had in the past. But I will say it goes into lulls and there are times I feel a break from all that thinking.

This time, the inner work was more personal and less theological/intellectual. Perhaps that is the natural next space after so much thinking, thinking, thinking for all these damned years!

Glad you're along for the ride. I swear, you are the queen of deconstructing yourself! I realize this only furthers the process of reconstructing into the new and improved but every time I think you're on sabbatical from the process, I find that you haven't taken a break at all. I love going through this journey with you.

MWAH!Dalissa McEwen Reederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05424482684428232565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9684236.post-38531287485855411232008-04-22T23:59:00.000-04:002008-04-22T23:59:00.000-04:00Nice teaser there on the end!
